Abstract

The paper studies the performances that a gateway between the standard architectures MAP and PROFIBUS, defined for manufacturing environments, should offer and analyses the main aspects to be followed on its design. In particular, the cell level network SINEC H1 and the fieldbus SINEC L2 from Siemens manufacturer have been selected as a possible platform to implement a gateway between such architectures. In order to establish the parameters to be used on the performance study a previous development of a gateway between proprietary architectures which follow the layer structure of the OSI Reference Model is presented.
