A study on the Type of Social Support among young people with COVID-19: Focus on Latent Class Analysis

Abstract

This study conducted categorization according to social support of young people using latent class analysis (LCA), and confirmed participation in the labor market and social activities by type characteristics. Based on the analysis results, a total of five types were derived: social support type, social isolation type, emotional support type, corona-isolated type and corona-vulnerable type. In addition, as a result of analyzing labor market and social activity participation by type, it was found that the socially isolated social isolation type and corona isolation type labor market and social activity participation was low. These results suggest the following policy implications. First, it is necessary to conduct a survey on the social support and isolation of young people and to provide policy support suitable for the characteristics of each type. Second, the social isolation of young people can be effectively resolved if a local self-sustaining structure is prepared using local governments and local private organizations.
