Texts of Memorial Plaques as a Linguistic Representation of Commemoration in the Urban Discursive Space (Based on the Material of the English Language)

Abstract

В статье ставится вопрос о возможности городского пространства транслировать базовые культурные установки и ценности государственных институтов в процессе коммуникации с жителями города. В качестве одного из носителей культурно-исторической значимой информации рассматривается коммеморация как совокупность коллективных практик, нацеленных на формирование согласованных ценностей и моделей поведения посредством их регулярного воспроизведения на основе представлений о прошлом, принятом в данном сообществе. Цель исследования заключается в изучении языковых форм коммеморации в пространстве мегаполиса с учетом национального культурно-исторического контекста. Эмпирическую базу исследования составляет авторский корпус коммеморативных текстов, к которому относятся надписи на голубых мемориальных досках Лондона (Blue Plaques). Отобранный языковой материал был обработан с помощью корпусного менеджера AntConc, что позволило получить данные о частотности лексических единиц и содержании контекстов их употребления. Исходя из того, что наиболее частотная лексика актуализирует значимые в смысловом отношении части корпуса, были сделаны выводы о тематических и концептуальных доминантах текстов мемориальных досок. Дальнейшие исследовательские процедуры позволили описать структурную схему коммеморативного текста, установить основные формы лингвистической вариативности в построении коммеморативных текстов, определить структурные элементы, чувствительные к национально-культурной специфике когнитивно-содержательной организации текстового компонента мемориальных досок. The article focuses on how the discourse urban space    transmits the basic cultural affirmations and values of state institutions in the process of communication with the residents of the city. Since commemoration carriers out culturally and historically significant information, this phenomenon can be viewed as a set of collective practices targeting to form common values and standards of behavior through their regular reproduction on the basis of ideas about the past accepted in this community. The paper makes an attempt to study the linguistic forms of commemoration in the space of a megalopolis, taking into account the national cultural and historical context. The empirical basis of the research is the corpus of commemorative texts, which consists of the inscriptions on blue memorial plaques of London (Blue Plaques). The selected language material was processed using the AntConc corpus manager, which allows to obtain data on the frequency of lexical units and the contexts of their use. As the most frequent vocabulary units actualize meaningfully significant parts of the corpus, the thematic and conceptual dominants of the texts of memorial plaques have been outlined. Further research procedures aim to describe the structural scheme of the commemorative text, to establish the main forms of linguistic variability in the construction of commemorative texts, to identify structural elements sensitive to the national-cultural specifics of the cognitive-content organization of the textual component of memorial plaques.
