Abstract

This article first gives an overview of the sociolinguistic situation in Luxemburg and its im pact on Luxemburgish multilingual literature, then analyses how the multilingual drama has had, since the beginning of Luxemburgish theatre, the function of a reflection of said situation, and has thus, through inter- and multicultural plays, been focusing on the prob lematics and themes of language ideology and politics, the representation of the other, the stranger, and identity crisis of a multicultural society. After a brief historical overview, the article will mainly concentrate on the multilingual works of two well-known Luxemburgish authors, Josy Braun and Nico Helminger.
