Abstract

The piezoelectric hollow sphere sensor is analyzed theoretically to predict the dynamic pressure with the knowledge of electric potential difference between the internal and external surfaces. The analysis is based on the three-dimensional theory of spherically isotropic piezoelectricity and is suitable for the piezoelectric hollow sphere sensor with arbitrary thickness. Under the free electric charge boundary condition, the relation between the dynamic pressure and the measured electric potential difference is derived as a second kind Volterra integral equation by means of the separation of variables method.
