Abstract

This SEPIC or Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter is an efficient DC-DC converter that provides a constant voltage for a wide range of input voltages.[1]Thus because of the above advantage, this converter is best for battery charging applications where the battery voltage decreases on discharging, thus providing a better voltage control.[2]Also one of the major advantages of using SEPIC converter is that it provides low input current ripple and thereby the harmonics can be reduced and large capacitor design is not required.[2]SEPIC is preferred more over Cuk that can provide similar advantages as it has lesser electrical stress[1]and hence gives a higher conversion efficiency.
