Maintenance outsourcing of airport facilities: State of the art

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present the phenomenon of Maintenance outsourcing in the Moroccan airport industry. The first part is based on the literature; it reviews the main characteristics of the growing trend of outsourcing and summarizes the existing research on the maintenance of airport facilities. The second part aims to present the different tools applied to the study that managers will draw on to make a good maintenance outsourcing decision in the airport industry. In terms of maintenance outsourcing decision criteria, this study is relevant, and timely because all the research in the airport industry on outsourcing has been developed by considering only airlines and aircraft maintenance, without ever dealing with airport facilities. Having the primary tools to make such strategic decisions could make airports more flexible and agile.
