Integration of satellite systems and services within third generation mobile systems such as UMTS and FPLMTS

Abstract

Third generation mobile systems as typified by UMTS and FPLMTS will have an integrated satellite component. This paper discusses some of the issues which must be addressed in such integration in a global multi-operator environment having a wide variety of regulatory regimes.<>
