Abstract
This article elucidates the superiority of energy storage mix over single type battery system in order to get more technical and economic convenience from the storage system. Dissimilar life years and power capacities of the battery units are reflected on the objective function and constraints of the problem respectively. The entire policy is construed into a master-slave problem to make the evaluation technique facile and fruitful. To accomplish the idea of storage mix, a novel hybrid MILP-GA storage management algorithm has been proposed. The designed algorithm chooses most economic storage unit at each time interval and looks into simultaneously the effect of the selected unit on the distribution system. Finally contributions of each unit to the total mix capacity are evaluated. After testing on a practical Indian distribution network, authors have proved that mix provides more loss reduction in less capital cost compared to storage system of similar type batteries.
