Abstract

A novel projection fiter proposed in this paper is applied in the Z-dimension digital image processing. This projection filter combines the original image with its Iirst-order projection both in the spatial domain and in the frequency domain linearly. It has some interesting properties which keep the zero-frequency energy of both the whole image and its every row and column invariable. This projection filter can he extended to the -der projeetioa that keeps the whole energy invariable instead of the zero-frequency energy. Experimental results show that the proposed filter can be used for feature enhaneement and image compression.
