Abstract

arious types of distributed applications and systems like e-commerce and virtual universities are developed by using the Internet and advanced database systems. Communication networks have supported high-speed data transmission and standard infrastructure to realize advanced multimedia applications. In addition, various types of mobile communication service are now available anywhere in the world. The new computation paradigm, e.g. nomadic computing is proposed based on the mobile communication. The standard object-based framework for distributed applications is developed by CORBA and DCOM and is widely used to realize the interoperability of the applications by taking advantage of the communication and platform infrastructure technologies. It is now significant to discuss how to take advantage of the network systems technologies, especially internet and high-speed multimedia communications, to realize the interoperable, cooperative and reliable, secure information systems.
