Abstract

Ripening of tomato is divided into several stages that are identified by their color index. This paper proposes a simple microcontroller based real time tomato ripening condition monitoring system which will identify ripening stages of tomato and send useful information to the farmer. RGB values of the image pixels of tomato is processed in MATLAB and are communicated to microcontroller which detects the ripening condition and finally the farmer is informed for this condition using GSM technology.
