Abstract
Routing is the most critical feature in a MANET network and a variety of routing protocol have been developed through years for many applications. Among all the types of protocol that exist for MANET networks, geographical based protocols are particularly interesting to implement on devices which already have a mean to know their geographical position. In this work, we propose an implementation of a geographical based routing protocol for a smartphone software platform. This implementation has been done on the Android platform and is based on the Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing protocol (GPSR) and the Wi-Fi Direct technology. Furthermore, this implementation is made to be used directly by an application developer without the need of modifying the Android system by manipulations such as rooting. The results of experimental tests showed that the system was operational with some latency which prevents the use of such implementation in real-time applications.
