Abstract
This paper presents a small size ultra wide band antenna for wireless body area network applications. The proposed antenna covers the impedance bandwidth of 3.1 to 10.6 GHz in free space. The gain reduction is the main influence of human body on antenna performance. In order to minimize this effect we modify the structure of the proposed antenna by using a plane reflector. Characteristics of the modified antenna, placed on human body, are investigated. Simulation results show that the modified antenna has good performance in both the frequency domain and time domain.
