UNVEILING TUN MOHD SAID KERUAK'S CONTRIBUTION IN POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SABAH, MALAYSIA

Abstract

Tun Mohd. Said Keruak is a native of Sabah who was born in Kg. Kota Belud and has involved in the political arena in Malaysia, especially in the state of Sabah. As a key character in Sabah politics, Tun Mohd. Said Keruak have played a significant role in the political development of this state. However, the discussion about the significance of Tun Mohd. Said Keruak's contribution. in the political development of Sabah remain limited among local or international scholars. This in turn made the general understanding of that aspect is remain inappropriate. For this reason, this paper presents an explanation on the contribution of Tun Mohd. Said Keruak in the political development of Sabah. Qualitative methods which refer to various secondary sources and interviews with selected respondents was used to obtain the intended information by focusing on the contribution of Tun Mohd. Said Keruak in Sabah's political development according to the timeline since Tun he was in Kg. Kota Belud until he occupied the Istana Negeri as the Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT). This paper found that Tun Mohd. Said Keruak as a person with a background in village life and cultural values have contributed significantly to the political development of Sabah.
