Abstract

The ancient method of inheritance in early Judaism and other ancient nations was that all the property of the deceased was given to his close blood relatives. Usually, the first son becomes the head of the family and becomes the owner of the family property. If the deceased had no son, he would appoint a friend as his heir. For those Christians who claim to be followers of Jesus (AH), there is no mention in the Bible of any family, social or economic laws, nor any special law of inheritance. Christians have therefore followed Roman and Jewish laws of inheritance, and have used the laws of other religions. This article critically examines the laws and rules of women's inheritance in Judaism and Christianity.
