Abstract
Location-awareness is highly remarkable subject in IoT fields, as many applications exploit location information to provide services such as navigation, guidance and use it to control lighting or temperature in the environment. While GPS provides reliable outdoor localization, indoor positioning system (IPS) is still challenging and many technologies have been proposed. However, most of them rely on customized hardware or presume some dedicated infrastructure. This paper focuses on solution which combines Wi-Fi positioning system along with Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) and differentiation between accessible and inaccessible areas in the venue. Wi-Fi positioning system is based on wave propagation modelling and requires access points locations to be known. System has been tested in laboratory environment and results are presented in performance verification section.
