This is an integrative review study, developed based on the phases of the elaboration process (six phases): delimitation of the guiding question; establishment of inclusion and exclusion criteria; database searches; analysis and interpretation of results; critical analysis with discussion of results; and presentation of the integrative review. Scientific articles were found in the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Virtual Health using the The inclusion criteria were literatures freely available online in Portuguese, English or Spanish, in the period within the past ten years. The results of the integrative review showed that breastfeeding was recommended in about 64% of the articles analyzed; breastfeeding up to two years of age was also another factor highlighted, about 37% of the articles make the recommendation, the use of pacifiers was reported in 30% of the surveys. Regarding the intake of foods other than breast milk, about 30% specify that they do not need to drink other fluids in the first six months of life.
