Abstract

This paper presents results for the determination of the direction of arrival (DoA) problem for a MIMO OFDM radar system using some of the most popular techniques: Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC), Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Techniques (ESPRIT), Minimum Norm (Min-Norm), Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR). The performance of the algorithms is evaluated using two different metrics, namely the performance achievable in terms of resolution and the probability of target distinction, since, for example, in automotive systems, not only the resolution but also the correct distinction of the number of targets can be crucial. The results presented in the paper show that the Min-Norm algorithm is a better option when used for applications that require reliable distinction of targets.
