Abstract

Artistic volume light is a common visual effect element in 2d animations. Recently, there is a trend to make video games and movies based on popular 2d animations. Our research presents a new method to render 3d artistic volume light at a real-time speed. This method takes the advantages of both mesh method and function method while avoiding their disadvantages. And by using GPU's features, our method can present a high-quality result of rendering while preserving a extremely low computation cost.
