Abstract

Fog computing has distributed, hierarchical, and heterogeneous architecture. Such computing environments are applicable in various Internet of Things applications, such as intelligent transport systems. Application placement to improve the QoE of various end-users is becoming one of the major challenges in the fog environment. In this paper, the multi-criteria application placement model for the fog computing environment is proposed. It takes into account such criteria as delay and cost with respect to resource constraints. Experiments have shown that two-criterion problem allows us to find the optimal balance between contradictory criteria, as opposed to solving single-criterion problem.
