Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the possibility of using a linear magnetoelectric drive (LMED) as a drive for a low-speed single-stage piston unit that implements the process of volumetric air compression up to 10 MPa. The magnetic system of a linear magnetoelectric motor includes permanent magnets located on a movable armature. The organic fusion of the compressor armature and piston makes it possible to simplify the design of the LMED and increase its reliability in comparison with hydraulic and electromechanical drives. The LMED was also compared with linear drives of low-speed units.
