Abstract

In this paper, a general algorithm applied to three phase shunt hybrid power filter (SHPF) is proposed for harmonics and reactive power generated by unbalanced linear/nonlinear load. This algorithm is based on the instantaneous active current component i/sub d/ method, which was previously designed for the three-phase shunt hybrid power filter topology. In that design, the circuit performance was found unsatisfactory under unbalanced load. The proposed algorithm is therefore, motivated in order to solve such problems. The SHPF damps the resonant frequency created by source inductance and power factor correction capacitors to a non-critical value.
