In this paper a post processing algorithm is proposed for reduces the blocking artifacts without removing perceptual quality. For smoothing and non smoothing regions are removed by modifying a few DCT coefficients, while a smoothing filter is applied for intermediate region. In the process of deblocking is used for correlation between the neighbouring blocks to reduce the discontinuity of pixels across the boundaries.
