This study aims to answer which are the issues that territorial governance processes of recent metropolizated peri-urban spaces should address, and which are the actors involved in such spatial governance. A qualitative methodology is used. Qualitative data is taken from 9 reports, prepared with information extracted from focus groups with neighborhood leaders. Content analysis was applied, using Atlas.ti software. The results show that the incorporation to the metropolis generates loss of community life and the lifestyle associated with rurality. The emerging challenge is how to maintain the value of rural life while advancing in urbanization.
