Abstract
A two-time-scale, third order discrete power system model is taken for this study. It is represented as a one parameter singularly perturbed R- model discrete system. A Singular Perturbation Method (SPM) consisting of an outer series solution and one boundary layer correction (BLC) solution is developed for this model. BLC is required to retrieve the initial conditions that are lost in the process of degeneration and to improve the degenerate solution. SPM for R-model is presented for general nth-order approximate solution. Then Initial Value Problem (IVP) and Boundary Value Problems (BVP) of single area power system are studied using this SPM up to second-order approximation and these results are compared with the exact solution. The results validate the application.
