Abstract

The new criticism is a text-oriented work. It rejects elements other than text. It  examines the text closely, revealing the hidden meaning. Words, images and style are very important for new criticism. They think the real meaning is in the text. They emerged after Russian formalism. T.S. Eliot, I.A. Richards belong to New Criticism. New Critics have emphasized aesthetic value by focusing on the text. The New Critics have reacted because they excluded the reader, the author and the society. They lost their influence in the 1960s and replaced it with the structuralists. In this study, OO†rpertiOO poetry analysis will be done in the context of New Criticism.
