Abstract
The paper investigates the electromagnetic and structural behavior of an induction motor (IM). The IM has copper rotor bars for improved performances, since it is intended to run in a wider speed range (from 2500 rot/min to 9000 rot/min), being designed for the air-conditioning system of an electric vehicle. The design procedure, as well as the parameters determination of the motor represented the first stage of the study. Here, the numerically obtained performances, by means of finite element method (FEM), are presented, to prove the validity of the study and the usefulness of the solution for the considered application.
