Abstract
This paper presents the steady-state and dynamic characteristics of the proposed Class-D power factor correction converter. In the proposed converter, the power factor and line current distortion are improved by using the third winding of the energy-storage reactor of buck-boost converter, and the high power efficiency is achieved by the soft-switching operations of the main power switch and output rectifier diode. As a result, it is clarified that the proposed circuit satisfies the IEC 61000-3-2 Class-D against changes of load. The maximum power factor is 0.83, minimum THD is 68% and maximum power efficiency is 92% at rated condition. Furthermore, it is revealed that the superior dynamic characteristics can be obtained under this circuit condition, and that the most suitable circuit parameters are obtained in both steady-state and dynamic characteristics.
