Abstract

Digital voice processing has advanced to a relatively high level of sophistication due to the development of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm. Complete vocoder systems have been developed around the FFT and with the advent of high-speed integrated circuits and read-only memories to implement sine and cosine tables for the FFT, actual real-time hardware processing has been accomplished.
