Case 47: Moebius Syndrome

Abstract

This case illustrates patient with Moebius syndrome with autonomic symptoms of intermittent dizziness and breathing difficulties that were present since birth. Testing provoked transient orthostatic hypotension twice at the beginning of the tilt. On both occasions, blood pressure recovered, but there was no compensatory tachycardia during the hypotensive episodes. The spells were associated with a cerebral vasodilation pattern in cerebral vasculature and hypoperfusion (OCHOS). Paroxysmal hypertension, orthostatic hypotension, and autonomic symptoms are described in Moebius syndrome.
