Abstract

Behavior of a brushless alternating current (BLAC) motor, also known as fractional-slot concentrated-winding (FSCW) permanent magnet motor, that uses a magnetoresistive angle sensor as position reading element for motor control, is studied in this paper using Flux-Simulink coupled simulation. Both, the motor and the angle reading sensor are modeled in Flux 2D, respectively 3D and coupled in Simulink to each other and with the power supply strategy, as well. The purpose of the study is to determine the influence of the angle reading errors over the motor torque ripple.
