Abstract
Impedance or Z-Source inverter is an emerging power converter topology that has been used as a step-up and step-down converter in a single unit. This paper presents a solar photovoltaic fed impedance or Z-source inverter (ZSI) based Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) for the alleviation of destructive voltage swells in a power distribution system. This article also proposed a hybrid technique for optimum maximum power point tracking (MPPT). The proposed hybrid technique is the combination of the perturbation and observation (P&O) technique and the incremental conductance (InC) technique. The design, modeling and simulation of the proposed PV-ZSI-DVR are implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK for mitigation of voltage swell and the obtained results are compared with traditional SPV fed voltage source inverter (VSI) and current source inverter (CSI) based DVRs.
