Staged Documentalism of the Soviet Era

Abstract

The paper aims to consider staged documentalism as a tendency of the Soviet era to “report” on high achievements and merits when fulfilling the set national economic tasks. The scientific novelty of the study consists of the authorial commentaries to the illustrative material of the paper claiming to visualise the understanding of the process of existence of such a stratum in the socialist society as the “provincial intelligentsia”, its role and tasks in participating in the cultural life of our state during the USSR period. As a result of the study, the researcher comes to the conclusion that “staged documentalism” was a method of recording Soviet reality that painted a general picture of people’s cultural life in the USSR era, the object of which were the types of the XX century intelligentsia, including the provincial intelligentsia.
