The literature review aims to determine the effectiveness of jeruju plant extract (Acanthus ilicifolius) as an anti-inflammatory from previous studies and to determine the method, plant part and solvent used. The method used is an electronic data base (google scholar and science direct). The keywords used in Indonesian are \"Acanthus ilicifolius as anti-inflammatory\" and the keywords in English are \"Acanthus ilicifolius AS anti-inflammatory\". The criteria found must be that the jeruju plant (Acanthus ilicifolius) can be used as an anti-inflammatory. The jeruju plant (Acanthus ilicifolius) contains chemical compounds, namely flavonoids which act as anti-inflammatory. The observed results show that flavonoid compounds are responsible for the biological properties because they can show a significant positive correlation between metabolic content and biological activity. The extraction method that is widely used by experts is maceration because it is not complicated and the tool is simple. The most widely used anti-inflammatory test method is carrageenan induction because it is easy to use. The part of the plant that is better to use is the leaf because the anti-inflammatory flavonoid and terpenoid compounds have the highest levels in the leaf.
