Abstract

This paper investigates whether PV panels mounted on the roof of an EV will extend the range and if so, by how much. Further, Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) prediction was done, based on cloud cover and clear sky GHI. Regression techniques was used for the GHI prediction. It was concluded that PV panels on the roof of an EV will lead to a very small increase in range as the EV drives, where the charge gained as the EV is parked, has a more positive effect.
