Abstract
A large number of solitary waves are active in the South China Sea, which poses a big threat to offshore activities such as oil and gas development. The purpose of this paper is to study how an ocean buoy can be used to monitor solitary waves internally. In addition to the buoy body, the system comes with an anchoring system, a power supply system, an acoustic Doppler current meter (ADCP), and a control acquisition system with satellite communication. A real-time warning system for solitary waves in the ocean can be developed by monitoring ocean currents on the ground in realtime. Oil and gas development in the marine environment will greatly benefit from this study.
