Correlações psicanalíticas acerca da lenda “O cabeça de cuia”

Abstract

The present work aims to make approximations between the Piauiense legend “O Cabeça de Cuia” and the psychoanalytic theory, more specifically the Freudian Oedipus complex. Thus, it is justified that the legends, an integral part of Brazilian folklore, have been neglected within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) due to their non-scientific nature which, consequently, results in the exclusion of this national historical element. In this way, the construction of this work highlights two points: first, the universality of psychoanalytic theory and, second, the appreciation and importance of popular knowledge within HEIs.
