Design of sigma-delta modulators of arbitrary topology

Abstract

Calculation of sigma-delta modulator coefficients is presented in this work as the problem of digital filter design. Numerical values of a transfer function coefficients are calculated using available procedures for Chebyshev or Butterworth digital filters design. Symbolic expressions linking transfer function coefficients with sigma-delta modulator structure coefficients are obtained for a modulator of arbitrary structure using matrix model of corresponding discrete circuit.
