Abstract
The old phrase that things have been thoroughly changed is now true more in engineering than ever before. This paper starts with a scenario which includes definition, methodology, systems relevance, and working environment of intelligent engineering. Starting from this scenario, engineering process model is proposed to provide a clear sight into engineering for achievements with autonomous features. The next issues in this paper is a new structure of engineering model system which is suitable for the design of lifecycle engineering process. Actual concepts such as propagation of changed inside and outside contexts, virtual execution of system level models using behavior representations, situation awareness supporting decisions on situation driven virtual and physical execution, integrating theoretical-experimental representations, and support operational decisions on engineering structures are considered. Finally, theoretical, methodological, and operational aspects of bringing world level engineering research into the Virtual Research Laboratory at the Doctoral School of Applied Informatics and Applied Mathematics, Óbuda University are discussed.
