Secondary immunodeficiency and other host defence syndromes

Abstract

Many disease states have been associated with immune dysfunction of varying degrees of severity and significance. This chapter discusses individual immunological abnormalities, along with the classification of secondary immunodeficiency. Individual viruses, bacterial causes, fungal and parasitic infections, and oncological causes are all outlined, along with age, metabolic disorders, diabetes, drugs, and other injuries.
