Abstract

Heat transfer at supercritical pressures involves two major phenomena i.e. heat transfer enhancement and heat transfer deterioration. In this paper effects of orientation on the heat transfer in supercritical water are studied. Properties of SCW are provided to the ANSYS FLUENT code using .scm file and piecewise linear interpolation is used for calculation of local value of properties during computations. Effects of buoyancy and heat transfer deterioration are studied and compared for both vertical as well as horizontal bare circular tubes.
