Case study of a Risk Prioritization in Failure Mode Effects and Critical Analysis Using MCDM

Abstract

This paper describes a case study of utilization of a simple and efficient technique for prioritizing preventive actions in a Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) based on the use of Multi Criteria Decision Methods (MCDM). The assessment in traditional FMECA is based on the severity, frequency of occurrence, and detectability of an item failure. However, these parameters are here represented as criteria in two MCDM namely TOPSIS and VIKOR.
