Abstract
This paper discusses the current perspectives and scenarios of
China’s democratic transit. For that purpose, the paper accents the
external political environment and current state of democracy throughout
the world and internal, institutional, structural, and cultural aspects of the
potential regime change in China. The paper outlines the circumstances
of democratic development in China, assumes that there is a small
probability of democratic transit, underlines wishful thinking in public and
academic discourse and generally describes diverse scenarios
