A novel combined bidirectional ac / dc adapter and dc / dc converter (henceforth combined converter) for PHEVs and electric / plugin electric conversions is introduced in this article. The integrated converter is capable of acting as an ac / dc battery adapter and of transmitting electrical energy between the battery pack and the high-voltage bus of the electrical traction network.
