Correlation between the spectral data received and the microscopic features observed was found, related to the morphological and biochemical alterations during neoplasia growth. Abstract

Autofluorescence spectral and confocal microscopic measurements were made on different cutaneous neoplastic lesions, namely basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma, and their dysplastic forms – keratoacantoma, dysplastic nevi and benign lesions related – basal cell papiloma, seboreic keratosa and compound nevi using excitation at 405 nm.
