Abstract

The use of presentation software (Slideware) in higher education lectures, such as PowerPoint (PPT), is ubiquitous across universities. Empirical studies found PPT-based lectures have several advantages. However, some challenges began to emerge in recent years, include: to provide non-linear narrative to deal with more and more non-linearly organized knowledge. Second, to adapt to students' varied education backgrounds and interests. Third, to deal with the popularity of web2.0 and mobile apps among students. In this paper, a prototype of enhanced information-rich presentation system based on web technology and second screen was proposed. Survey and interview after experimenting with prototype system show a significant impact on promoting communication between teachers and students, which is more than 200% in class and 3000% after class. Although many positive user experience feedbacks were acquired from teacher and students, further studies may still be required since we also found many communication behaviors are irrelevant to presentations or the class itself.
Slideware2.0:整合Web2.0与第二屏幕促进教育交流的演示系统原型
