Use of Pencil Probes for Blast Pressure Measurement

Abstract

The article deals with the use of pencil probes for blast pressure measurement. Specifically it is about the initial experience, methodological faults and key findings resulting from the first employment of the pencil probes during field tests in a military training area. It also briefly describes the basics of pressure wave propagation and general usage and main purpose of pencil probes for blast pressure measurement. It particularly focuses on measurement setup, results analysis and their comparison with numerical simulation. Moreover, it further discusses triggering options, which were used during the field experiments, and some improvements to be made for the next blast pressure measurement.
