PROBLEMY REALIZACYJNE GATUNKOWEJ OCHRONY GRZYBÓW W LASACH

Abstract

The paper presents the implementation problems related to the species protection of fungi in forests broken into four basic groups: legal, practical, conceptual and organisational. The legal problems include the lack of the exact interpretation of the terms: “a small number of specimens” and “a negative impact on the preservation of the proper conservation status”, as well as the ensuing ineffective law enforcement issues. The lack of monitoring of fungi, insufficient use of nature protection areas for the conservation of fungi or the lack of conservation programmes for the endangered species are the examples of practical problems. Conceptual problems are related to the construction of the lists of protected fungi, while organisational problems include – inter alia insufficient number of specialists involved in the protection of fungi, lack of a specified responsibility for the fungus conservation actions, as well as limitations in the effective fungus protection in the absence of the current and complete data on their occurrence.
