Abstract
Knightly games were a type of physical activity typical for the Middle Ages and early modern period, although they were taking place to a lesser extent and in various modifications also in the 18th and 19th centuries. With a few exceptions, the organizers were rulers and nobility, so we include them in aristocratic physical activities. The general term „knightly tournament“ covers several types of activities, namely the classic tournament (melee), joust, buhurt and duel on foot. The text will focus on the topic of historical places in Prague where these types of tournaments took place, and on their chronology with a broader overlap into the history of the phenomenon. A separate chapter will discuss the nature of tournament architecture. The work is also intended as a starting point for further study of the early history of sport facilities in Prague.
